COLUMBUS | Wisconsin

At A Glance

Nestled among gently rolling hills and the Crawfish River is the City of Columbus. Located in the southeast corner of Columbia County, Columbus presents an almost perfect portrait of the late 19th century, with over 200 century-old commercial and residential buildings. One of these being the historic Governor Lewis Mansion. He was one of the governors that led Wisconsin through the tumultuous years of the Civil War. Although the mansion is still intact, the interior needed renovations. Not all was lost, however, because the owners were able to restore artifacts such as books, ledgers, letters, autographs and pictures of Columbus citizens in the 1800s. Nowadays, it can be found to host events such as weddings, but all you need to do is take one step inside and you can feel the history echo through the halls of this mansion.
